The Dunes to host Discovery Creative’s first public photo exhibit.
Discovery Creative, the internal advertising, marketing and creative agency for Discovery Communications, and The Dunes, Washington’s fast emerging creative space, are hosting a photography exhibit of the work promoting Deadliest Catch, NY Ink, Cake Boss, Hillbilly Handfishin’ and a host of other hit TV shows. Every year Discovery Creative’s photo services group commissions some of the world’s best shooters to capture the essence of shows airing on the Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Investigation Discovery and OWN among others, and the exhibit features some of their most dazzling efforts.
“It was tough to select the photos for the exhibit,” admits James Gilbey, VP, Group Creative Director for Discovery Creative. “Our photo people commission work around the globe on an almost daily basis. The photographers are the best in the business and the subject matter is always fascinating. Our work is featured in the prestigious Graphis Annual virtually every year and there were hundreds of worthy contenders. But the final selections stood out. They captured, in one frame, the crux of the program and hinted at a larger, richer story. You can’t ask much more from a photograph.”
The exhibit, Celebrities & Other Animals, features 22 gripping, funny, thought-provoking images shot by 16 renowned photographers, including Brent Stirton, George Lange and David Johnson. It is the first time Discovery Creative has shown its photographic wares to the general public. Select photos will be on sale with proceeds going to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation.
