In the Artist’s Studio (INAS) invites independent artists that range from up and coming to those who have arrived, to share their music and their story in an intimate setting. The next edition features LA-based artist/producer Erik Rico who was initially discovered by American Idol’s Randy Jackson and signed to a multi-album solo deal on Columbia Records. After two years in the mainstream record industry, Erik broke with the record label and set out to carve his own path. Years later, his debut album, Journey Back to Me and sophomore release A Higher Frequency EP are critically acclaimed and have Erik traveling the world to perform for eager fans. Erik will perform with The Els and sit down to chat with Rhome Anderson of washingtonpost.com (that’s me) to discuss life in and out of the mainstream record industry and artistry in the 21st Century.
